4 things you should not use to cook your food, No. 3 deadly to your health 

Ever heard the popular saying “health is wealth”? This gives large meaning to our life, as health is considered the most valuable and precious for every individual. Good health means not only the absence of disease in the body but a complete physical, mental, social as well as spiritual well-being of an individual. The benefits of being physically fit include:

Health is wealth, and it is very crucial and it' s a good way to always pay apt attention to what you permit into your body as food. Performing carefree about what you eat or what you use in cooking your meals is very risky, due to the fact a few ingredients are bad, risky and may harm your body whilst you keep eating them through the years. Let's Consider the following dangerous cooking products: 


1. Paracetamol Paracetamol is a medicine and it is not supposed to be used in cooking; it is quite poisonous when it gets into hot water. If combined with meat fibre to form a toxic substance, it can be very harmful to the internal organs of the body and can lead to cancer or other terminal problems. Nigerians continue to use paracetamol for cooking despite the warning by the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control that the tablet could cause kidney and liver failure. The medication, which is used to treat pain and fever, is being used by some Nigerians to cook meat and beans for household and commercial consumption. Those using this method claim that a paracetamol tablet tenderizes meat and beans faster, reducing cooking duration and saving on fuel. The cost of the medication is also affordable, with a packet of 12 tablets going for 14 cents. NAFDAC warns that when cooked, paracetamol loses its painkiller properties and becomes highly acidic and dangerous for human consumption. 


2. Baking Soda (mainly for bakers). Long-term and overuse of baking soda can increase your risk for: hypokalemia, or potassium blood deficiency. hypochloremia, or chloride blood deficiency. hypernatremia, or rise in sodium levels. Baking powder is a cooking product that helps batter rise. Many people ask questions like, “how safe is it to use baking powder?” Baking powder is considered nontoxic when it is used in cooking and baking. However, serious complications can occur from overdoses or allergic reactions. Be sure to buy quality, food grade baking powder. So what does really baking powder contains? Baking powder contains sodium bicarbonate (also found in baking soda) and an acid (such as cream of tartar). It may also contain cornstarch or a similar product to keep it from clumping. You will still say, all those ingredients do not sound healthy at all. Well, agree. And that’s the reason baking powder should be used wisely, only in some recipes to get better result(not to use in everyday cooking). Advice: in case you can not avoid using baking soda, please use little or no amount in keeping with time. 


3. Potash Potash has been traditionally used to improve the texture of okra soups, to soften beans, help vegetables cook faster, is used as a preservative and is even used as medicine for several ailments traditionally. Therefore, excessive consumption of this earthy material (potash-Kaun) may lead to its accumulation that could cause severe and irreparable damage to the kidney and disrupt normal body functions which may eventually lead to loss of life. Sodium content in potash is capable of increasing blood pressure. Another damage high sodium content cause is an injury to the kidney and liver. This product is dangerous for pregnant women as it can cause uterine contractions. 


4. Alum Alum is an ingredient in some foods and quite a few non-edible products. From deodorant to cooking, this mineral is commonly used everyday. Potassium alum is a fine white powder that you can find sold with. Have you ever wondered if alum is safe to eat or safe to use as an underarm? All forms of alum can cause irritation of the skin and mucous membranes. Breathing alum can cause lung damage. Aluminum also may attack lung tissue. Because it's a salt, eating massive amounts of alum can make you sick. It’s easy to get confused about which foods are healthy and which aren’t. You generally want to avoid certain foods if you want to lose weight and prevent chronic illnesses.
